Clean Hydrogen Producers

At Catator we work with hydrogen producers and Power-to-X developers to address two critical process challenges: safe treatment of off-gases from electrolyzers and the removal of trace oxygen from hydrogen streams. Our CataLite® technology delivers compact, high-performance solutions for emission control and gas purification that integrate directly into electrolyzer and hydrogen production systems. Catator enables industrial hydrogen producers to meet stringent safety and emissions requirements while maintaining process efficiency, supporting the scale-up of clean hydrogen production across Power-to-X and electrolysis applications.

Catator enables fuel cell manufacturers and system developers to accelerate commercialization of fuel reforming solutions that define a new benchmark within the hydrogen eco-system.

CataLite® Burners from Catator are designed for emission-free combustion of off-gas streams in hydrogen electrolysis and Power-to-X applications. The burners handle highly variable and transient gas compositions across a broad concentration range, with a turndown ratio of up to 1:50 based on energy content, and without the need for support fuel.

From ultra-lean off-gas streams, where conventional flame burners require auxiliary fuel, to energy-rich gas compositions, CataLite® Burners deliver stable, flameless combustion with immediate thermal response. This makes them well suited for hydrogen production and co-electrolysis applications, including syngas production for synthetic fuels.

The CataLite® Burner Series is built on Catator’s patented CataLite® Coating technology, enabling catalysts to be applied to virtually any metal surface. The result is a highly porous and active catalytic layer with strong adhesion, efficient heat transfer, and reliable combustion performance across demanding operating conditions.

Trace oxygen in hydrogen streams poses significant risks to safety, equipment integrity, and product quality. In electrolyzer and hydrogen purification systems, even ppm-level oxygen contamination can cause catalyst degradation, corrosion, and hazardous hydrogen-oxygen mixtures. Effective deoxygenation is therefore a critical step in producing clean, high-purity hydrogen.

CataLite® DeOxo from Catator provides complete oxygen removal from hydrogen and inert gas streams, down to ppm and sub-ppm levels. Based on Catator’s proprietary CataLite® Coating technology applied to metallic mesh substrates, the system combines high catalyst loading with superior heat and mass transfer, low pressure drop, and excellent thermal stability.

In testing, CataLite® DeOxo achieved greater than 99.96% oxygen conversion at gas hourly space velocities of 100,000 to 150,000 h⁻¹, significantly exceeding performance levels typically reported for conventional DeOxo systems. The result is a compact, high-throughput solution for demanding industrial hydrogen purification applications.
